Stuart Jones

Managing Director


An erstwhile activist and lifelong progressive, Stuart has worked in various fields of research for over 25 years. He has run research in (and has travelled to) 23 African countries.
He has owned and run Vibrand Research for the last 15 years, and founded the Citizen Research Centre three years ago.
While this was intended to provide research to social entities, it quickly morphed into an organisation focused on social media based research on issues of social import.
Seeing the urgent need for research to translate into action, Stuart co-founded the Citizen Dialogue Centre, with the intention of affecting meaningful social change.

Stef Snel

Dialogue and Mediation Director


Stef is a social justice activists pursuing dialogical conflict prevention and resolution, a diversely experienced facilitator and mediator in community conflict and development, multiparty disputes and
organisational problem solving. He is a partner at IR Change consulting and intervening in violent social and economic conflict. He is the chairperson of the Citizen Dialogue Centre and a director at the Citizen
Research Centre. He co-founded UMAC, a civil society organisation tracking security force atrocities and later facilitating democratic transition though the late eighties and nineties. During that time he
participated in the work of the Goldstone Commission, National Peace Accord, Network of Independent Monitors and Independent Electoral Commission. A member of the ACCESS facility, accredited mediator
with Department of Environmental Affairs, a habitual Independent Electoral Commission mediation panelist, technical expert with the European Centre for Electoral Support and on roster with European
Resources for Mediation Support.

Tim Shier

Strategy and Tech Director


Tim has spent over 15 years working in and on Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organisations. Outside of his societal contribution, Tim co-founded BrandsEye (a global leading in Online Perception Tracking and Prediction Tool) and upward of 10 other startups in the last 10 years – ranging from fintech and market research through to content distribution and agricultural management at scale.

Beyond his current business interests, Tim teaches two courses at Oxford University (Saïd Business School) covering the topics of Financial Technology (FinTech) and Disruptive Strategy (Marketing).

Central to his skillset is the intersection between Growth, Technology, Research and Value Creation where he operates as a General Specialist.

Tim is also an amateur magician, a deep systems thinker and has ambition to one day deserve be called an “inventor”.

Dee Vos

Research and Operations Director


Dee is an activist, analyst and adventurer. Invariably, this has led her to explore the globe, participating in social activism campaigns and civil resistance movements across four continents and a variety of issues.

A seeker of truths and a lover of learning, Dee is an active proponent of personal privacy and individual autonomy.

She has been an educator at MIT on Social and Big Data Analytics (theory and application) and is an avid systems thinker. Dee has defined and continues to develop the research methodology and processes used by Citizen Research and Dialogue Centres.

Neeran Naido

Stakeholder Relations and Communications Director


Neeran is a British Council Chevening scholar with a Masters’ degree in Communications from the University of Leicester, UK. He has experience working in the public, NGO and private sectors. He spent 8 years at Woolworths SA as group corporate communications manager protecting the reputation of South Africa’s celebrated retail brand. Prior to that Neeran was special advisor to the first Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Frene Ginwala. More recently, he was Director of Communications at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Neeran serves on the Boards of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation and the Hout Bay Partnership.
He loves the media with all its pitfalls, personalities and pit-bulls.

Proudest moment: Designed the Mace of the National Assembly, one of our national symbols when Mandela was President.

Sifiso Mbuyisa

Non-Executive Board Member


Sifiso is a Human Rights and Social Justice practitioner.
He is an accredited Commercial Mediator with Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (London) and currently serves on the Panel of the Department of Environmental Affairs Mediators.

His passion has lead him to work with organisations such as the Western Cape Government (Director of Human Rights Programmes), the European Union Delegation in Pretoria (as Project Officer), the Centre for Conflict Resolution (as African Programme Manager), the Institute for Multi-Party Democracy (as a Researcher), and the United Nations Mission in East Timor (as a District Field Officer).
This experience set has allowed Sifiso to develop a wide range of expertise in public sector reform, international development, civil society & public participation, as well as stakeholder engagement processes for development policy formulation.
